Tasting Notes

The Stone Eagle Rose is sourced entirely from the Stone Eagle Estate vineyard and this wine is 100% Cabernet Franc. The vineyard is meticulously maintained, including crop thinning and leaf plucking. The fruit is carefully hand harvested to provide a balance of flavour and freshness. The inviting light salmon-pink colour of this wine is the result of a very limited amount of time on the skins, and it also serves as the first indication of its delicacy. The wine is matured for 5 months in small Acacia barrels. Subtle yet complicated in character, the nose is a lovely expression of the complexity of the wine. Soft red fruit notes of strawberry and cherry frame a floral nose of rose petals, dried flowers and very subtle spice notes revealing the wine’s Cabernet Franc heritage. The palate is surprisingly rich and textured as it also reflects the fruit and spice notes of the nose. The time in barrel caused this rosé to develop the wonderfully elegant mouthfeel, resulting in an unexpected and elevated sensation, as well as showcasing the balance and the many subtleties of this rose. This is a finesse wine throughout, transitioning into a lovely and lingering finish.
